Welcome to the 2022-23 school year! I am pleased to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you and welcome you to Harbor Beach High School. This will be my 14th year teaching at Harbor Beach Community Schools, and 17th year of teaching overall. I am a graduate of Northern Michigan University with a major in secondary education. In 2008, I received my master’s degree at Central Michigan University, where I served as a graduate assistant with the basketball program. I am also the varsity girls’ basketball coach.
By providing relevant information and knowledge, skills, and attitudes, the study of social studies prepares students to grow up as active, responsible, and reflective members of society. This discipline also teaches them to address societal and global concerns using literature, technology, and other identifiable community resources. I am really looking forward to the upcoming school year, building upon the skills students mastered last year, and helping students accomplish new challenges in each respective social studies subject area. I feel that a positive learning experience is built on a collaborative effort among parents, students, and teacher, and I welcome your questions and concerns as the year progresses. We have many expectations for our students at Harbor Beach High School. One of the biggest is being responsible for assignments and actions. You are responsible for completing and turning in each assignment. It is essential that you follow up on homework, correspondences, and reinforcing positive behavior. My weekly lesson plans and homework will be posted on my course website for you weekly to view at www.hbpirates.org. It is my ultimate goal for each of my students to experience success and to foster a love of reading and writing. I am thrilled to work with you over the course of the school year. If questions or concerns should arise, please feel free to email or call anytime. |
